Life after High School - Workshop for Parents of Special Education Students
The Somerset County Office of Youth Services and Manville School District are cosponsoring a free workshop for parents and special education students.
Monique Dujue Wilson, from the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN), will discuss issues pertaining to the transition from high school to adult life. She will outline goals of the IEP process, secondary education and employment options, and adult service systems.
Parents and special education students will learn how to access the information and resources needed to build linkages and plan a dignified future as a contributing citizen in the community.
SPAN is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering families as advocates and partners in improving education and health outcomes for infants, toddlers, children and youth. The organization offers families and professionals information, resources, support and advocacy assistance.
The registration deadline is Wednesday, April 24.
