Family Support - Self Hired Respite Voucher Program
The Self Hired Respite Voucher Program is a DCF (Division of Children and Families) funded reimbursement program supporting families in Somerset County. The family member with a disability must be under 21 years of age be eligible for services with the New Jersey Children’s System of Care and registered with Perform Care.
Self Hired Respite (SHR) offers parents and care givers an opportunity to take time off from caring for their family member with a disability, providing about 30 hours a month of support. The families have the flexibility to hire a provider of their choice who must meet DCF eligibility criteria. Families are then reimbursed for the provider's services.
